Kindeva Drug Delivery Announces Collaboration With Synopsys

Kindeva Drug Delivery recently announced a collaboration with Synopsys, Inc. involving the implementation of Synopsys Simpleware automated software solutions to assist in creating a state-of-the-art system for accurately measuring Kindeva’s microstructured transdermal system (MTS) arrays.

This collaboration will enable fast and accurate measurements of Kindeva’s MTS arrays by utilizing Simpleware image processing and machine learning-based artificial intelligence (AI) technology. With this customized software, Kindeva will be able to analyze computed tomography (CT) images in a much more efficient manner than before. Previously, the process of measuring the geometric attributes of the needles and coatings of Kindeva’s arrays was a time-consuming and technically complicated process.

Kindeva, a global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), is a world leader in microneedle platform development. Kindeva brought a microneedle delivery system to Phase 3 development status and continues to refine its manufacturing process to achieve the quality and efficiency customers and patients require.

“With the implementation of this software, Kindeva will be able to complete in minutes what previously took days. It is truly amazing what can be done with this software. Historically we would have to measure various aspects of the array by hand and even then, we relied on statistical calculations to provide an overall measurement for each array. Now, we can measure all aspects without the need for a statistical probability calculation. In short, this will increase our quality and our overall speed,” said Raj Khankari, Vice President of Research and Development for Kindeva.

“With our AI-enabled Simpleware Custom Modeler, Kindeva can scale up efficiently as they automate their CT-based inspection workflows,” said Terry Ma, Vice President of Engineering at Synopsys. “Our solution will ensure consistent quality, accuracy and repeatability, reducing the engineering time spent on manual, repetitive tasks and speeding up the onboarding process for new engineers. We look forward to collaborating with Kindeva and deepening our partnership to bring value to our customers.”
