Roquette Unveils POLYOX ES Packaging to Advance Excipient Stability & Sustainability

Roquette has recently launched POLYOX Extended Stability (ES) packaging, a customer-driven innovation that delivers measurable improvements in excipient stability, handling, and environmental impact.

POLYOX Water Soluble Resins (WSR) are widely recognized for their versatility in complex drug delivery systems, including osmotic pumps, mucoadhesive formulations, and abuse-deterrent applications. To ensure these high-performance characteristics are preserved over time, Roquette developed the new ES packaging format to meet the evolving needs of pharmaceutical manufacturers.

POLYOX ES packaging offers a 24-month retest interval—up to a 300% increase compared to traditional formats. The extended stability helps reduce product waste, minimize retesting, and improve inventory control.

“POLYOX ES packaging is a direct response to what our customers told us they needed: longer stability, easier handling, and more sustainable packaging,” said Tom Gilbert, Global Product Manager at Roquette. “It’s smarter packaging that delivers stronger performance — and it’s available now.”

The new 20-kilogram format is compact and easy to handle, offering improved storage efficiency and flexibility across global supply chains. With regional warehousing and global availability, POLYOX ES packaging supports business continuity and supply assurance. In addition to performance benefits, the packaging is designed to support waste reduction efforts. When customers recycle the outer cardboard box, the solution can contribute to more than an 80% reduction in landfill and incineration waste compared to traditional packaging. It’s a step forward for both supply chain resilience and environmental responsibility. Discover more about POLYOX here.
