Swiss specialty pharmaceutical company Dipharma SA has acquired UK-based LogixX Pharma Limited, establishing a direct commercial foothold in the United Kingdom and creating a platform for future product launches targeting rare and chronic diseases.
The acquisition brings together two companies with an established working relationship and a shared focus on developing and supplying treatments for patients with rare metabolic conditions. LogixX, headquartered in Theale, Berkshire, has served as Dipharma’s UK commercial partner for nearly a decade, marketing its nitisinone product and, since 2023, sapropterin dihydrochloride.
Founded in 2010, LogixX specializes in medicines for rare and metabolic diseases, supplying products to the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) and homecare providers. Its established relationships with clinicians, pharmacists and homecare organizations are expected to provide Dipharma with an established distribution and commercial network as it looks to expand its presence in the market.
Under the new ownership structure, LogixX will serve as the foundation for additional Dipharma product introductions in the UK. The group plans to draw on its development, regulatory and quality capabilities to support portfolio expansion and bring additional treatment options to patients with rare diseases.
Fabio Cannata, General Manager of Dipharma, says the acquisition formalizes a long-standing partnership and combines LogixX’s knowledge of the UK rare disease market with Dipharma’s pharmaceutical development capabilities. He highlights the LogixX team’s experience and established patient-focused relationships as important assets in identifying opportunities to expand treatment availability.
Michael Close, CEO of LogixX, describes the transaction as a natural progression for the two organizations following years of collaboration. He pointed to the company’s relationships with healthcare professionals and homecare providers, as well as its experience in rare metabolic diseases, as important foundations for future growth. Joining Dipharma, he adds, will provide additional resources to broaden the company’s product offering.
LogixX will retain its existing name and continue operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of Dipharma. Close will remain CEO, and employees will continue in their current positions. The transaction was completed through the acquisition of LogixX Pharma Holding Group Limited, the company’s parent organization. LogixX’s fertility business was excluded from the deal and now operates as a separate entity. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
