Eppendorf is extending its collaboration with BioLabs to support early-stage biotechnology and life sciences companies at BioLabs | TUM, a new innovation hub in Munich. The partnership will give resident startups access to laboratory equipment, technical guidance, training, and opportunities to connect with industry experts.
Under the agreement, Eppendorf will serve as a Gold Sponsor at the Munich facility, expanding a relationship that already encompasses BioLabs locations in the United States, Germany, and France. The companies aim to help emerging businesses access the infrastructure and expertise needed to advance research and develop their technologies.
Eppendorf’s contributions will include laboratory instruments, related software, equipment maintenance, and staff training. The company will also participate in educational and networking activities, including lectures, conferences, workshops, office hours, and on-site events for BioLabs residents.
The collaboration brings together complementary resources for early-stage life sciences companies. BioLabs provides laboratory facilities, operational support, and a community of entrepreneurs, mentors, investors, and industry partners, while Eppendorf contributes equipment and technical knowledge to support laboratory operations as companies grow.
BioLabs | TUM began welcoming residents earlier this summer. The facility offers shared and private laboratory space alongside office facilities and operational services. Its location within Munich’s life sciences ecosystem connects the site with the broader TUM Venture Labs network, which supports entrepreneurship and technology development.
“Expanding our collaboration with BioLabs to the new Munich site allows us to bring Eppendorf’s equipment and expertise closer to a new generation of biotech companies,” says Axel Ziemke, vice president of the Central Area EMEA at Eppendorf Vertrieb Deutschland GmbH. He adds that the arrangement combines practical laboratory support with opportunities for direct engagement between Eppendorf and emerging life sciences businesses.
For BioLabs, the Munich expansion builds on a relationship spanning more than a decade. The company sees the partnership as a way to strengthen its support for scientists and entrepreneurs working to translate research into new products and technologies.
