Ecolab Adds Resin Manufacturing Capacity With New Quzhou Facility

Ecolab is expanding its manufacturing and R&D footprint in China with the opening of a new resin production facility in Quzhou, a move aimed at increasing supply capacity for advanced purification technologies used across industrial and infrastructure markets.

The new site, operated by Ecolab Life Sciences, began shipping products to customers in July and was formally inaugurated on September 15. The investment adds manufacturing capacity to Ecolab’s global network as demand increases for technologies designed to improve purification and separation processes while reducing water and other resource requirements.

The Quzhou operation brings manufacturing together with a newly established research, development and engineering center. Teams previously based at Ecolab’s Deqing and Quzhou operations will work from the expanded site, creating a more closely integrated development and production environment.

According to Ecolab, the facility will manufacture resin products used in applications where purification and separation performance are critical. The company expects the additional capacity to help address demand in high-growth markets while improving its ability to respond to customer requirements and reduce manufacturing lead times.

“Advanced purification is becoming increasingly important as industries look for ways to improve performance while making more efficient use of resources,” says Christophe Beck, Chairman, President and CEO of Ecolab. “Our investment in Quzhou allows us to innovate alongside our customers, support their growth and help them achieve high performance while using fewer natural resources.”

The co-location of production and technical development is a central feature of the new operation. Ecolab said the arrangement is intended to shorten the distance between product development, engineering expertise and commercial manufacturing. Hayley Crowe, Ecolab’s Executive Vice President and General Manager of Global Life Sciences, said the expanded site will increase the company’s ability to support customers in markets where demand for purification technologies is rising.

The company views the investment as part of a broader effort to strengthen its manufacturing and innovation infrastructure rather than as a standalone expansion in China. “By bringing manufacturing and RD&E closer together, we can accelerate innovation, respond more quickly to growing demand and harness the expertise of our talented teams,” Crowe says.

For customers, the additional production capability is expected to provide greater access to locally manufactured resin technologies while maintaining connections to Ecolab’s wider supply network.

The investment comes as manufacturers across multiple industries face pressure to improve resource efficiency and strengthen supply chain resilience. Advanced separation and purification technologies can play a role in water management, resource recovery and process optimization, areas that Ecolab has identified as long-term growth opportunities.
